Aiming High

Well that's about the sixth time I've seen Aim and they just keep getting better!

Aim is a kinda hip-hop, kinda DJ, kinda funky group that is really my kind of music. There is little not to like and when there is a full live band which combines brass, strings, tubs and samplers, you just can't go wrong.

As per usual it was a Liquid Rooms gig, which always sounds awesome. Been to some really good gigs there now. Packed as per usual, the atmosphere was brilliant. We were right in the thick of it as is usual, although I was there with a couple of different groups of friends so it was a little scattered around. Iain, Grant and his missus Suse + Adam, Jeff, Li and Bethan, whom I spent more time with due to there being more in the middle!! I can't help it - I'm a people person :p

The lead signer lass, who Chris fancies the pants off (sorry Andrea!) was there again, still looking very hot!! She sang one of her own tunes aswell as some tracks from Aim's new album, which I've yet to purchase but it's defo on my shopping list.

Jimmy sorted me out with a complimentary round which was good of him, although I've put in a good attendence record for the gigs there so I guess it's a fair exchange

Although a totally different type of gig, I was reminded of the time myself and Chris went to see Andy Turner (main Aim dude) play a DJ set at the old Bongo club..... appart from being shocked by a couple of dinosaurs, the odd thing about that night was that about four days later I found myself in a bar in Gas Town in Vancouver chatting to Andy and saying how I'd just seen him a few days prior in Edinburgh.... he must have thought I was a stalker or something. Regardless, it was an odd experience!

Anyways, back to the here and now, and all in all it was a great night, plus me and Jeff got tickets to see Ugly Duckling on the 16th November for cheap, so that should be a good giggle. Not seem some proper MC/DJing for a while and there is a serious lack of good hip-hop around, so hopes are high.... stay tuned.
